![]() Morad ParkLocated in Casper, Morad Park is a place to take the dogs (off leash) and walk the river. | ![]() Pathfinder ReservoirCamping, hiking, and water fun! Pathfinder is an excellent place to play outside. Located in both Carbon and Natrona County. |

![]() Circle Drive RoadOutside of Casper, near Coal Mountain Rd, is Circle Drive Rd. The two roads (Coal Mountain and Circle Drive) hold state land, great places to go hiking. While Coal Mountain seems to be popular with the shooters, Circle Drive tends be a little more quiet. If you're looking for some quick hiking near Casper Mountain, head on down to Circle Drive. Take CY/220 out of town and turn left onto 487 as if going to Laramie. There will be a sign for it. Turn left and you're there. | ![]() Poison SpiderAnother good area to find outdoor recreation is along Poison Spider Rd (Casper). BLM land and off-road vehicle areas give you the opportunity to hike or play with outdoor toys like ATVs and dirt bikes. |
![]() Bear LodgeThe Bear Lodge Mountains are located in the upper north-east corner of the state near the Black Hills. Although a lot of the state land is surrounded by private there are some beautiful areas to explore including Devils Tower. | ![]() Thermop Hot SpringsThe perfect place to soak away all the stresses of life. Beautiful, winding roads leading into town, Thermopolis is a lovely place to visit both summer and winter. Fish the Bighorn River, visit the dinosaur museum, or wander the state park. Did I mention that the use of the state bath house is free? |
![]() Castle GardensThe Castle Gardens' petroglyphs are pretty cool, but what's even cooler is the surrounding area. Although a bit touristy (for those tourists that step off the beaten path) Castle Gardens is something definitely worth seeing. Outside of Moneta, off Hwy 20, is a sign pointing to Castle Gardens Rd. Follow the signs down the dirt road to the end and you're there. | ![]() Ayres Natural BridgeBeautiful and family friendly (No Pets), Ayres is a great place to take the kids on a hot summer day, but I wouldn't recommend it for the avid hiker. Volley ball nets and camp grounds it can be a disappointment to those looking for the rugged WY experience. However, there's a buffalo ranch and Oregon Trail marker on the way which can be fun to stop and gawk at. Off I-25 between Glenrock and Douglas. |
![]() Independence RockOff Hwy 220, Independence Rock is another family friendly place to stop on your way to wherever. It offers something for everyone. Not interested in hiking? Read about the Oregon Trail at the rest area. For those looking to be active you can walk the path around the rock or even climb up on it. Those looking for an all day hike can head on out to Sentinel Rocks. | ![]() Alcova ReservoirWhatever you're looking to do Alcova can most likely accommodate. Fishing, swimming, boating, hiking, hunting, camping, etc. There's a lot of land to explore out there so if you have time, why not spend it at Alcova? |
![]() North Platte RiverInside town or out in the booneys fun on the North Platte River is limited only by your imagination. | ![]() Rotary ParkLocated at the base of Casper Mountain, Rotary Park is lovely place to spend the afternoon. It's family friendly and offers some decent hiking. And while you won't really escape people by hiking here there are so many trees around it'll feel like you're on your own. |
![]() Seedskadee National Wildlife RefugeLocated near Green River off highway 372 is Seedskadee. The Seedskadee Wildlife Refuge follows the Green River and is an incredibly beautiful place to visit. | ![]() Buckboard MarinaFor all you boat fans. Buckboard is located off highway 530 near Green River and a great way to experience Flaming Gorge. Some things are just better viewed from the water...although hiking is good too. |
